This is exciting...  Smiley  Now I have to decide if I want to just enter one of the songs I already have posted or do a new one.  Might not hurt to try to get a better recording than the webcam stuff I have up now.

Mike,

I have a couple of questions:

Does the video have to be a recording of a performance (as in recording yourself playing/singing) or can it be a video put together with a prerecorded performance (such as a typical music video)?

What about overdubbing other parts (other instruments, harmonies, etc.)?

If you're looking for opinions, I'd like to see the videos be restricted to straight performance, with the music recorded the same time as the video was recorded and no overdubs.

Brian,

Good questions.

1- Live on tape.

2- No overdubs.

I want the raw, amateur spirit of internet video to come through.

Mike,

Just want to make sure I understand the constraints. Any problems with adding a little processing to the audio (I would normally add a little reverb and compression) or is this truly "raw" (room acoustics only)?

Hey!?  Who uses tape any more.  Smiley

I like it.  No processing.  Just a simple recording.  I'm going to try to write a song and get it polished enough to perform.

A little processing is fine.

Has anyone posted a video yet? Will we get notice when a video is posted for competition? I'm in. Not sure what song I will record or if I will use a previous song, however. Because I'm moving and things are packed away, the only guitar I can record with now is my Cargo. A good enough guitar for sure but as any knows who's played with musicians long enough, it's the song or the performance, not the equipment, that matters.
